Little Learning Limerick # 5 – Base sounds for today are: "ock" and "ad."

Little Freddy rode round the block
Keeping careful eye on the clock
His mom would be mad
If he was a late lad
For she had a beef roast in the crock.

(The base sounds today are "ead" and "earned")

Kid Joey was learning to read
Which prompted his sister to plead:
"Your words I have learned;
Honors medals I've earned;
So to read simply follow my lead!"

3/10/16 LLL #3  (Base sounds for today: "ong" and "ook")

Not many are bigger than Kong
The giant ape who's very strong
He can't read a book,
And no rugs he will hook,
But he swings through the trees all day long.

3/9/16 (base for today is "art" and "ore")

Sue went to the store with her cart
Each push she would give she would fart
She was banned from the store
'Til her stink was no more
She should have stayed home from the start.

Little Learning Limericks

Hello Friends!

I don't know about all schools, but many start beginning readers out with little words that show up within bigger words.  I came across my granddaughter's list from first grade and thought it might be fun to write some limericks using the words.  Here we go!

(Today's base is "unt" and "in.")

Billy swung the bat with a grunt,
But he only managed to bunt.
He said with a grin
While scratching his chin
Next ball I hit you'll have to hunt.
